Airport – Negombo

Meet and greet on arrival at Airport by Infinity Vacations Representative & proceed from Airport to Negombo

Negombo on the country’s western coast is a popular diving destination on account of twelve exceptional dive sites. Divers are treated to underwater landscapes ranging from pristine reefs full of fish to small rocky boulder strewn reefs. The wrecks of a WWII fighter aircraft and a 50 year old shipwreck now thriving marine colonies, are popular dive sites. The furthest dive spot the Third Reef offers clear blue water, excellent visibility and a diverse range of marine life.

Day 02

Negombo – Pinnawala – Sigiriya

Breakfast at Hotel & thereafter proceed from Negombo to Pinnawala

As you enter the 25 acre coconut property, do not be surprised to witness baby elephants being bottle fed or moving around freely causing absolutely no harm to anyone. It is rightly a sincere sight to observe how these gentle giants – orphaned and sometimes three-legged – are taken care of since 1975 at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Up to date, over 20 calves have been born here, and it is surprising to hear that some of its inmates have even seen their grand children during the past few decades! Watch as they feed at 09:15 am, 12:15 pm & 05:00 pm and take a river bath twice a day at 10:00 am & 02:00 pm respectively for an experience that could never be felt anywhere else on earth!

Day 03

Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya

Breakfast at Hotel & thereafter proceed to Sigiriya

One of the key archaeological sites in the cultural triangle, Sigiriya is a vast archaeological site dating from the 5th century. However it has been inhabited since pre historic times. The main attraction is the 80 meter granite rock with frescos of heavenly maidens and archaeological remains on top. The base of the rock is equally interesting with water and boulder gardens, a moat and old city walls.  The onsite modern museum is the best place to start.

Thereafter proceed to Polonnaruwa

The second most ancient of the country’s kingdoms Polonnaruwa was the capital of medieval Sri Lanka from the 11th to about the 13th century. As one of the best planned ancient cities, Polonnaruwa is home to a range of historic attractions that include monasteries, ancient stupas and Hindu and Buddhist places of worship. Some of the great irrigation works built during this time, seen when entering the city, are still in use today albeit with some improvements.

 

Day 04

Sigiriya – Dambulla – Matale – Kandy 

Breakfast at Hotel & thereafter proceed from Sigiriya to Dambulla

Dambulla Rock Cave temple which was built by king Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C.  and  it is  a  World  Heritage Site.  It is the most impressive of  Sri Lanka’s cave temples.  The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world.  It contains over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

Thereafter proceed from Dambulla to Matale

Visit a spice garden in Matale to see different spices for which Sri Lanka is famous for. Here, clients could see different spices and how some of these spices are grown and processed.

There after proceed from Matale to Kandy

Located in the central hills, Kandy was the capital of the country’s last kingdom. Among the many places of historical, religious, cultural and ecological significance is the Temple of the Tooth where the Buddha’s tooth relic is enshrined, the 200-year-old Kandy Lake, remains of the 700 year old royal palace, a royal forest reserve, several pieces of 18th and 19th century colonial architecture, historic Buddhist and Hindu temples, the country’s largest botanic garden and the tea museum in the Hantane hills.

Day 05

Kandy – Peradeniya – Tea Plantation – Nuwara Eliya

Breakfast at Hotel & there after proceed to Peradeniya

Thereafter visit The Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya. Today bundled with the most welcoming facilities located just 4 miles off Kandy – is a flourishing national asset in the Wonder of Asia. Walk into this 147 acre bliss of an experience, passing well tended lawns, pavilions & an octagon conservatory to be greeted by the vast expanse of a magnificently landscaped lush green turf which will encourage you for an exhilarating break. Towards the north of the entrance rests a cafeteria that one might come across before stepping into some of the highlights – the orchid house & giant Javan fig tree – of this place which overflow in grace.

There after proceed to Nuwara Eliya via visiting a tea plantation

At an altitude of 1,868 meters Nuwara Eliya has a subtropical highland climate. When combined with a mean annual temperature of 16 degrees C it has the best conditions to host a variety of flowering plants, vertebrates, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, trees, shrubs, mosses and ferns making it an environment hotspot. Pidurutalagala at 2524 meters above sea level the country’s highest mountain peak looms over the town. The mountain is the catchment of some of the country’s major river systems. Nuwara Eliya is also famous for its tea plantations.

Nuwara Eliya – Yala – Tissamaharama

Do a safari of the Yala National Park by jeep.

Covering nearly 130,000 ha along the south east coast of Sri Lanka, Yala is a strict nature reserve and a national park. Its landscape comprises of light forest, scrub and grasslands, shallow lakes and lagoons. The most visited park in the country is home to elephants, the world’s largest concentration of leopards, sloth bears, spotted deer, sambur, crocodiles, langurs and a myriad water birds among other species. The best time to visit is between February and July.

Tissamaharama – Galle – Bentota/Hikkaduwa

Galle was once the chief port of Ceylon. It is still well known for hand-made lace. Visit the Galle Fort (spanning 90 acres) which has been originally built by the Portuguese and later extended by the Dutch in 1663. This is a World Heritage Site.

Pidurutalagala at 2524 meters above sea level the country’s highest mountain peak looms over the town. The mountain is the catchment of some of the country’s major river systems.     Do a safari of the Yala National Park by jeep.

    Covering nearly 130,000 ha along the south east coast of Sri Lanka, Yala is a strict nature reserve and a national park. Its landscape comprises of light forest, scrub and grasslands, shallow lakes and lagoons. The most visited park in the country is home to elephants, the world’s largest concentration of leopards, sloth bears, spotted deer, sambur, crocodiles, langurs and a myriad water birds among other species. The best time to visit is between February and July.

    Tissamaharama – Galle – Bentota/Hikkaduwa

    Breakfast at Hotel & Thereafter transfer to Galle

    Galle was once the chief port of Ceylon. It is still well known for hand-made lace. Visit the Galle Fort (spanning 90 acres) which has been originally built by the Portuguese and later extended by the Dutch in 1663. This is a World Heritage Site.
