Day 01

Airport – Pinnawala – Dambulla

Meet and greet on arrival at Airport by Infinity Vacations Representative & proceed To Pinnawala.

As you enter the 25 acre coconut property, do not be surprised to witness baby elephants being bottle fed or moving around freely causing absolutely no harm to anyone. It is rightly a sincere sight to observe how these gentle giants – orphaned and sometimes three-legged – are taken care of since 1975 at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Up to date, over 20 calves have been born here, and it is surprising to hear that some of its inmates have even seen their grand children during the past few decades! Watch as they feed at 09:15 am, 12:15 pm & 05:00 pm and take a river bath twice a day at 10:00 am & 02:00 pm respectively for an experience that could never be felt anywhere else on earth!

Thereafter proceed from Pinnawala to Dambulla

Dambulla Rock Cave temple which was built by king Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C.  and it is  a  World  Heritage Site.  It is the most impressive of  Sri Lanka’s cave temples.  The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world.  It contains over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

Day 02

Dambulla – Habarana – Minneriya – Dambulla

Breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Huriwaduna village.

Trek through the archetypal Sri Lankan Typical village. The trek begins with an awesome walk along a bund of a Wewa or manmade reservoir. The reservoir itself, the surrounding scrub jungle, marshland and village are a hive of early morning or an evening activity. The amazing birdlife, butterflies and possible sightings of crocodile only add to the charm of seeing the villagers as they go about their early morning tasks of fishing, or washing clothes at the periphery of the lake.

On completion proceed to Minneriya to commence a exciting Jeep safari

Minneriya is the site of a National Park in the catchment of the Minneriya reservoir constructed in the 3rd century. It is famous for its elephant gathering during the dry season, an event identified as the country’s largest seasonally recurring wildlife phenomenon. July to October is the best time to observe this event. Other park denizens include 26 species of mammals, 160 species of birds, 25 species of reptiles, nine species of amphibians, 26 species of fish and 75 species of butterflies.

Then return back to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 03

Dambulla – Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Dambulla

Breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Sigiriya

One of the key archaeological sites in the cultural triangle, Sigiriya is a vast archaeological site dating from the 5th century. However it has been inhabited since pre historic times. The main attraction is the 80 meter granite rock with frescos of heavenly maidens and archaeological remains on top. The base of the rock is equally interesting with water and boulder gardens, a moat and old city walls. The onsite modern museum is the best place to start.

thereafter proceed from Sigiriya to Polonnaruwa

Do a city tour of Polonnaruwa.

The second most ancient of the country’s kingdoms Polonnaruwa was the capital of medieval Sri Lanka from the 11th to about the 13th century. As one of the best planned ancient cities, Polonnaruwa is home to a range of historic attractions that include monasteries, ancient stupas and Hindu and Buddhist places of worship. Some of the great irrigation works built during this time, seen when entering the city, are still in use today albeit with some improvements.

Dambulla – Matale – Kandy

Check out after breakfast at the hotel and thereafter proceed from Dambulla to Matale

Visit a spice garden in Matale to see different spices for which Sri Lanka is famous for. Here, clients could see different spices and how some of these spices are grown and processed.

There after proceed from Matale to Kandy

Located in the central hills, Kandy was the capital of the country’s last kingdom. Among the many places of historical, religious, cultural and ecological significance is the Temple of the Tooth where the Buddha’s tooth relic is enshrined, the 200-year-old Kandy Lake, remains of the 700 year old royal palace, a royal forest reserve, several pieces of 18th and 19th century colonial architecture, historic Buddhist and Hindu temples, the country’s largest botanic garden and the tea museum in the Hantane hills.

Day 05

Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Check out after breakfast &  there after proceed to Nuwara Eliya in a scenic train journey through the tea country that surrounds the city.

Commence Nuwara Eliya city tour in the evening.

At an altitude of 1,868 meters Nuwara Eliya has a subtropical highland climate. When combined with a mean annual temperature of 16 degrees C it has the best conditions to host a variety of flowering plants, vertebrates, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, trees, shrubs, mosses and ferns making it an environment hotspot. Pidurutalagala at 2524 meters above sea level the country’s highest mountain peak looms over the town. The mountain is the catchment of some of the country’s major river systems. Nuwara Eliya is also famous for its tea plantations.

Check in at the hotel and you may spend rest of the day at leisure.

Day 06

Nuwara Eliya – Horton Plains – Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast and proceed to Horton Plains for jeep Safari.

Horton Plains National Park is the highest plateau in the country. It is also a popular nature trekking site. Its montane grasslands and cloud forests is home to some 750 species of plants of 20 families, 24 species of mammals among which are leopard, Sri Lankan sambur deer, the purple faced langur, wild boar and 87 species of birds of which 21 are endemic to Sri Lanka and four are found only in Horton Plains. A 700-meter escarpment known as World’s End and Bakers Falls are popular attractions

Return back to the hotel and spend evening at leisure.

En-Route,Visit Rawana Water Falls in Ella

An amazinjg waterfall of 1080 feet higjh close to the road from Ella to Wellawaya about 06km south from Ella .The stream,a tributary of Kirinda Oya plunges with a foaming spray over a series of ledges into nthe valley close to a road bend.The watweers riswe from Wewatenna highland above the rocks.In general the rocky underground of the waterfalls in Sri Lanka consists of hard gneiss or granite,

But here the material is khondalite,a kind of lime stone which undergoes  decay faster.Thus there are caves near the falls.King Ravana of Ramayana legend is said to have lived in one of the caves above the waterfalls.

Tissamaharama – Yala – Galle

Check out after breakfast and proceed to Yala for an exciting jeep safari in Yala national park.

Covering nearly 130,000 ha along the south east coast of Sri Lanka, Yala is a strict nature reserve and a national park. Its landscape comprises of light forest, scrub and grasslands, shallow lakes and lagoons. The most visited park in the country is home to elephants, the world’s largest concentration of leopards, sloth bears, spotted deer, sambur, crocodiles, langurs and a myriad water birds among other species. The best time to visit is between February and July.

Upon completion & transfer to Galle for Overnight stay.

    Minneriya is the site of a National Park in the catchment of the Minneriya reservoir constructed in the 3rd century. It is famous for its elephant gathering during the dry season, an event identified as the country’s largest seasonally recurring wildlife phenomenon. July to October is the best time to observe this event. Other park denizens include 26 species of mammals, 160 species of birds, 25 species of reptiles, nine species of amphibians, 26 species of fish and 75 species of butterflies.

    Dambulla – Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Dambulla

    Breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Sigiriya

    One of the key archaeological sites in the cultural triangle, Sigiriya is a vast archaeological site dating from the 5th century. However it has been inhabited since pre historic times. The main attraction is the 80 meter granite rock with frescos of heavenly maidens and archaeological remains on top. The base of the rock is equally interesting with water and boulder gardens, a moat and old city walls. The onsite modern museum is the best place to start.

    Do a city tour of Polonnaruwa.

    The second most ancient of the country’s kingdoms Polonnaruwa was the capital of medieval Sri Lanka from the 11th to about the 13th century. As one of the best planned ancient cities, Polonnaruwa is home to a range of historic attractions that include monasteries, ancient stupas and Hindu and Buddhist places of worship. Some of the great irrigation works built during this time, seen when entering the city, are still in use today albeit with some improvements.

    Dambulla – Matale – Kandy

    Visit a spice garden in Matale to see different spices for which Sri Lanka is famous for. Here, clients could see different spices and how some of these spices are grown and processed.

    Located in the central hills, Kandy was the capital of the country’s last kingdom. Among the many places of historical, religious, cultural and ecological significance is the Temple of the Tooth where the Buddha’s tooth relic is enshrined, the 200-year-old Kandy Lake, remains of the 700 year old royal palace, a royal forest reserve, several pieces of 18th and 19th century colonial architecture, historic Buddhist and Hindu temples, the country’s largest botanic garden and the tea museum in the Hantane hills.

    Day 05

    Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

    Check out after breakfast &  there after proceed to Nuwara Eliya in a scenic train journey through the tea country that surrounds the city.

    Commence Nuwara Eliya city tour in the evening.

    At an altitude of 1,868 meters Nuwara Eliya has a subtropical highland climate. When combined with a mean annual temperature of 16 degrees C it has the best conditions to host a variety of flowering plants, vertebrates, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, trees, shrubs, mosses and ferns making it an environment hotspot. Pidurutalagala at 2524 meters above sea level the country’s highest mountain peak looms over the town. The mountain is the catchment of some of the country’s major river systems. Nuwara Eliya is also famous for its tea plantations.

    Check in at the hotel and you may spend rest of the day at leisure.

    Nuwara Eliya – Horton Plains – Nuwara Eliya

    After breakfast and proceed to Horton Plains for jeep Safari.

    Horton Plains National Park is the highest plateau in the country. It is also a popular nature trekking site. Its montane grasslands and cloud forests is home to some 750 species of plants of 20 families, 24 species of mammals among which are leopard, Sri Lankan sambur deer, the purple faced langur, wild boar and 87 species of birds of which 21 are endemic to Sri Lanka and four are found only in Horton Plains. A 700-meter escarpment known as World’s End and Bakers Falls are popular attractions

    Return back to the hotel and spend evening at leisure.

    But here the material is khondalite,a kind of lime stone which undergoes  decay faster.Thus there are caves near the falls.King Ravana of Ramayana legend is said to have lived in one of the caves above the waterfalls.

    Tissamaharama – Yala – Galle

    Check out after breakfast and proceed to Yala for an exciting jeep safari in Yala national park.

    Covering nearly 130,000 ha along the south east coast of Sri Lanka, Yala is a strict nature reserve and a national park. Its landscape comprises of light forest, scrub and grasslands, shallow lakes and lagoons. The most visited park in the country is home to elephants, the world’s largest concentration of leopards, sloth bears, spotted deer, sambur, crocodiles, langurs and a myriad water birds among other species. The best time to visit is between February and July.

    Upon completion & transfer to Galle for Overnight stay.
